P2 Cylinder

2 Stroke Cylinder Porting Development

The P2 was an internal project where we developed a novel porting scheme to address the well-known problem in the racing 2 stroke engine’s power curve shape.

For this project we developed cylinders with fully CNC machined ports so that small changes in torque could be discerned, that were not related to natural casting variances between cylinders.

We used an existing base engine and cast new cylinders with material added so that different porting schemes could be CNC cut into the same casting blanks. We trialled and tested several porting schemes before finalising our approach. This project was highly successful and we continue to use and develop this porting configuration as a special characteristic of our 2 stroke engines.
